Autogenous cultured growth plate chondrocyte transplantation in the treatment of physeal injury in rabbits

چکیده
OBJECTIVES The aim of this experimental study on New Zealand's white rabbits was to investigate the transplantation of autogenous growth plate cells in order to treat the injured growth plate. They were assessed in terms of measurements of radiological tibial varus and histological characteristics. METHODS An experimental model of plate growth medial partial resection of the tibia in 14 New Zealand white rabbits was created. During this surgical procedure the plate growth cells were collected and cultured. While the second surgery was being performed, the autologous cultured growth plate cells were grafted at the right tibia, whereas the left tibia was used as a control group. RESULTS Histological examinations showed that the grafted right tibia presented the regular shape of the plate growth with hypertrophic maturation, chondrocyte columniation and endochondral calcification. Radiological study shows that the mean tibial deformity at the left angle was 20.29° (6.25 to 33) and 7.21° (5 to 10) in the right angle. CONCLUSION This study has demonstrated that grafting of autogenous cultured growth plate cells into a defect of the medial aspect of the proximal tibial physis can prevent bone bridge formation, growth arrest and the development of varus deformity. Background: Growth plate is responsible for bone elongation and its injury could result in severe orthopedic problems. OBJECTIVES: This study was aimed to investigate the radiographic changes after transplanting the fresh autogenous ear cartilage impregnated with PRP and MSc in treatment of growth plate injury in lamb. METHODS: Cranial half (½) in length in full depth of the right hind limb gro...
متن کاملAllogeneic and autogenous transplantations of MSCs in treatment of the physeal bone bridge in rabbits
BACKGROUND The aim of this experimental study on New Zealand's white rabbits was to find differences in the results of treating the distal physeal femoral defect by the transplantation of autologous or allogeneic mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs). After the excision of a created bone bridge in the distal physis of the right femur, modified composite scaffold with MSCs was transplanted into the defe...

PURPOSE The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of transplantation of an in vitro-generated, scaffold-free, tissue-engineered cartilage tissue analogue (CTA) using a suspension chondrocyte culture in a rabbit growth-arrest model. MATERIALS AND METHODS We harvested cartilage cells from the articular cartilage of the joints of white rabbits and made a CTA using a suspension cul...
متن کاملThe effect of butyric acid with autogenous omental graft on healing of experimental Achilles tendon injury in rabbits
In this study, the role of local injection of butyric acid (BA) with autogenous omental graft was evaluated in healing of experimental Achilles tendon injury in rabbits. Nine adult male New Zealand rabbits were anesthetized and a partial thickness tenotomy was created on both hindlimbs. In treated group, omental graft was secured in place using BA soaked polygalactin 910 suture. In control grou...
متن کاملMicrovascular transplantation of physeal allografts.
We compared growth in vascularised allograft transplants, autografts and in non-operated physes in rabbits immunosuppressed with cyclosporin A and in non-immunosuppressed animals. Molecular haplotyping was undertaken before operation to ensure allogenicity. Postoperative bone scans and fluorochrome labelling were used to confirm physeal vascularity. The animals were killed at three or five week...
